The Hunter Memorial Mural team (HMM) works to revitalize and reconnect the Chattanooga community with its rich history, diversity and culture. We are a non-profit organization striving to cultivate unity in the community.
Mr. Willie Charles and Mrs. Claudine Hunter were pillars of the African American community in East Chattanooga, TN. The Hunters will be remembered for their decades of kindness and philanthropy to the community through the public art of the Hunter Memorial Mural.
Earlier this spring, we thought that we had found a home for the mural site. But then along came the East Brainerd tornado, which damaged that historic building, and so the search for a new location continues. We are open to suggestions.
Recently, in addition to the mural art project, the HMM team has helped with other community service initiatives like the East Brainerd relief effort, Covid-19 mask distributions, and the YMCA Feeding Program.
