Children who have endured abuse or neglect live with constant instability, never knowing what to expect from one day to the next. The National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association’s network of 939 local programs and state organizations empower 79,000 highly-trained volunteer advocates to fight for the best interests of over 200,000 children each day.
Appointed by the courts, CASA and GAL volunteers offer critical support and guidance for children navigating the child welfare and foster care systems, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. Through this advocacy, a CASA or GAL volunteer provides what is often the only consistent and dependable adult presence in a child’s life.
