Camaldolese Monks of America Inc. –DBA New Camaldoli Hermitage, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization is a congregation of Camaldolese monks. The Camaldolese were founded in the 11th century by Saint Romuald of Ravenna in Camaldoli Italy. In 1958 the congregation opened in Big Sur California a hermitage with the purpose of continuing with its monastic tradition and expanding the reach of prayer, and their charism of silence and solitude to peoples of all walks of life. New Camaldoli is located in the coastal outskirts of the Santa Lucia range in the central coast of California facing the Pacific Ocean. The hermitage welcomes visitors from all over the world and all walks of life to experience their charism of silence, solitude, and communal prayer.
